Bl. Benedetta Bianchi Porro
The Lord continues to provide us with magnificent examples of devotion, sacrifice, and love! For this month, we are truly honored to share the story of Bl. Benedetta Bianchi Porro. A pre-med student who suffered from polio as a baby & who later self-diagnosed herself with von Recklinghausen disease, a neurological condition that robbed her of all her five senses. She began going deaf as a teenager but longed to become a doctor & was able to enter medical school. Porro would complete oral exams by reading the lips of her instructors! She completed medical training, however, was unable to continue in this field. Rather, “…she became a kind of doctor to the soul to all who visited.” Blessed Benedetta Bianchi Porro, pray for us.
